Tianye Group Launches Groundbreaking 20,000-Ton/Year Oxalate Ester Project in Xinjiang
Shihezi, May 28 — The groundbreaking ceremony for the 20,000-ton/year oxalate ester project, undertaken by China Chemical Donghua Technology for Tianye Group’s Xinjiang Yunjutian New Materials Co., Ltd., was held on May 28. Senior officials, including Li Guang (Deputy Secretary of the Eighth Division), Xu Guangwen (President of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology), Zhou Jun (GM of Xinjiang Tianye Group), and Chen Zhirong (Deputy GM of Donghua Tech), attended alongside representatives from local government agencies and construction units.
Project Significance & Goals
The project, a key initiative under Liaoning Province’s technological aid program to Xinjiang, aims to accelerate the green transformation of Shihezi’s coal chemical industry while supporting China’s "dual-carbon" objectives. Li Guang emphasized its role in optimizing industrial structure, expanding employment, and building a modernized coal chemical system. He urged stakeholders to prioritize ecological protection and resource efficiency to establish a benchmark for high-quality, sustainable development.
Collaborative Innovation
Xu Guangwen highlighted the project as a milestone in the partnership between Shenyang University of Chemical Technology and Tianye Group. Utilizing proprietary green synthesis technology, the project will drive low-carbon, high-value coal chemical applications and serve as a model for industrial chain extension under the "dual-carbon" policy. Zhou Jun further noted the project’s competitive advantages: independent IP, low-carbon processes, and cost efficiency, aligning with the 14th Five-Year Plan’s focus on high-quality industrial development.
Technical & Strategic Impact
Located in Shihutan New Materials Industrial Park (300 mu site, ¥260 million investment), the project converts dimethyl oxalate—a byproduct of coal-to-ethylene glycol processes—into versatile alkyl oxalate chemicals. This innovation diversifies downstream applications of ethylene glycol, creating a "one-source, multi-output" industrial chain. Chen Zhirong reaffirmed Donghua Technology’s commitment to leveraging its engineering expertise to ensure timely project delivery and support Tianye Group’s growth.
Conclusion
The project marks a strategic step for Donghua Tech in the "new materials" sector and exemplifies cross-regional collaboration to advance green industrialization. With completion expected on schedule, it is poised to strengthen Xinjiang’s coal chemical competitiveness while contributing to national sustainability targets.
